More Is Less

We are currently going through a series called More Is Less based on John 3:30 - He must become greater; I must become less.
Below you can find each week's sermon outlines and sermon videos.

A More Is Less Prayer…

God, I desire for you to become more and for me to become less. Begin to shine your light in places where I have deep hurts, hang ups, and habits.  I recognize for you to become greater in my life, I must be completely open to your will and to your way.  If there is unforgiven sin in my life, may you forgive me; if there are broken relationships with others, may you lead me to restore them; if there are areas within the body of Christ I need to serve, make it clear to me.  I can’t continue to sit on the sidelines while the game of life is being played.  Life is too short and you desire to use me to share your love with a fallen and broken world.  For this to happen, my heart must be in the right place.  This prayer is for you to be seen in all that I do every minute of every day.  Help me to not be so wrapped up in society, the things of this world, my world, that I miss you.  I want more and more of you each day and less and less of me.  This is my prayer.  In your name I pray, Amen!

Week 2: More Is Less: An "AHA" Moment

More Is Less: An “AHA” Moment

John 3:30 / Ezekiel 37:1-14

Sunday, January 15, 2017

John 3:30

He must become greater; I must become less.

An “AHA” Moment EXPERIENCE
A moment of sudden INSIGHT or DISCOVERY
Ezekiel 37:1-14

The “Aha Moment” for us is…

GOD'S SPIRIT IS THE KEY. With God's spirit, anything is possible. Without it, existence is just flesh and blood.  But WITH GOD'S SPIRIT...

THERE IS LIFE

…and what Jesus called fullness of life. And there is no place on earth, no when in time, and no what in sin or situation, that can keep God's Spirit away from God's people (see Romans 8:31-38).

When we pray the prayer – “More of You, less of me”, we are inviting the Spirit of God, to breath into us…

  • New WAY
  • New LIFE
  • New MEANING

Week 3: More Is Less: A Thorn of Grace
More Is Less: A Thorn of Grace
John 3:30 / II Corinthians 12:1-10

Sunday, January 22, 2017

John 3:30

He must become greater; I must become less.

II Corinthians 12:1-10

Thorn - something that wounds, annoys, or causes discomfort.

v. 8 - “…that it should leave me…”

It had a PHYSICAL  dimension, in that it was a thorn in the flesh
It had a MENTAL  dimension, in that it was a messenger of Satan
It had a SPIRITUAL dimension, in that it was an unanswered prayer
v. 9 -“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”

Two Ways of Relief

Removing the load

Strengthening the shoulder that bears the load
Grace could MEET  Paul’s NEED  because it EXPRESSES  God’s ACCEPTANCE and PLEASURE in US.
Grace could meet Paul’s need becauseit was AVAILABLE  all the time.
Grace could meet Paul’s need because it was the verySTRENGTH of God.
Philippians 4:13

Week 4: More is Less: A Guide to Spiritual Maturity

More Is Less: A Guide to Spiritual Maturity

John 3:30 / Matthew 7

Sunday, January 29, 2017

John 3:30

He must become greater; I must become less.

Matthew 7:1-6

The Christian is called to show UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. But the Christian is not called to unconditional APPROVAL. We really can love PEOPLE who do things that should not be approved of.

We break this command when we think the WORST of OTHERS.
We break this command when we only SPEAK to others of their FAULTS.
We break this command when we judge an ENTIRE life only by its WORST  moments.
We break this command when we judge the hidden MOTIVES  of others.
We break this command when we judge others without considering OURSELVES in their SAME  circumstances.
We break this command when we judge others without being MINDFUL that we ourselves will be JUDGED.

Matthew 7:7-11

We are to have in our prayer life..

INTENSITY
PASSION
PERSISTANCE

RECEIVING  is the reward of asking
FINDING  is the reward of seeking
ENTERING  through the opened door into His palace is the reward of knocking, and the best reward of all.
